NEW jobs are on the cards at laundry business Iron Maidens.

It has installed a new washing machine, with 10 times the capacity of a household appliance to spearhead further growth after turnover doubled in 2014.

It is a personal triumph for owner Sharon Bridgett, who set up a small laundry business in her home garage after being made redundant 15 years ago.

Now Iron Maidens provides a commercial laundry service to hotels, restaurants, spas and B&Bs across Staffordshire from premises in Longton.

Iron Maidens also offers a domestic laundry service from a shop in Oakhill, which carries out dry cleaning, ironing, and bridal dress cleaning.

Sharon said: “2014 has been our biggest year of growth yet and 2015 is set to be even better.

“Strong sales have driven investment, including a new folding machine and a washing machine with a 60 kilo capacity, which we took delivery of in November.

“Domestic machines generally take loads of around six to eight kilos and the new machine is even a third bigger than other commercial washers.”

Plans are now being drawn up to introduce a double shift pattern for the first time, which will to new jobs at the laundry in Sutherland Road.
